'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tottenham Striker Signs

Southend's second confirmed signing today was Shaquile Coulthirst, he comes in on a season long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

The teenage striker made his debut for the Premier League side in the Europa League last season against Anzhi Makhachkala and also had a spell gaining first team football with Leyton Orient for a month before ending the last campaign on loan with Torquay United, scoring two goals in five appearances.

The 19 year old, in his interview with the official website, says he is happy to join us as he knows League 2 with him thinking this being a long term loan for the season is even better with the decision to come to Roots Hall and easy one.

'I'm really pleased to have joined Southend on a season-long loan. It gives me the chance to really make an impression.

'I had a couple of loan spells last season and know what this division is all about, so I can't wait to start at Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

'There was some interest from other clubs, but I know Southend are one of the biggest in this division so it was an easy decision for me to come here on loan.'

Coulthirst has come here to play football so this is a loan that should benefit everyone, at least we'll be hoping it does.
