Brown On Good Charlton Test
Manager Phil Brown has said that the test Charlton posed us in the behind closed doors friendly was similar to the one we had last summer against Real Madrid C.
A strong Charlton side beat us one nil, and speaking to the Official Site Brown explained.
'Charlton have some real quality on the ball so at times we were chasing the ball around to try and win it back, and with the conditions the way they were, it was hard work. In some ways it was similar to Real Madrid last season because of the hot conditions and the fact the opposition were good on the ball and moved it around well. We did too at times. I was actually left slightly disappointed that we didn't score because we had a few chances and played some good football.'
Brown goes on to say that in many ways he actually felt we looked fitter than they did which was pleasing for him because clearly the work we have been doing is starting to pay off now, and the game can only have helped our fitness levels ahead of the coming games against Ipswich and Queens Park Rangers.
David Worrall also got his debut and the gaffer was pleased with his 45 minutes, as clearly he's a bit behind the lads so far in terms of fitness, but the run out will have done him the world of good, and the focus will be on getting him 75 minutes or a full run out in one of the two upcoming games now.
