Defender Back At Roots Hall

Defender Back At Roots Hall

Southend continue to look at central defensive options for next season with Phil Brown also continuing to look at players in a trial capacity this summer to ensure that he doesn't dive into anything too soon.

The latest is Leon Cort, with a return to Roots Hall possibly on the cards.

I'm not sure if Brown would've been his manager during his time with Hull City, who he left as for in the summer of 2004, with him since playing for the likes of Crystal Palace and Stoke City in the Premier League playing in the Championship with Charlton Athletic last season.

Only playing five games last season would be a concern though.

Injuries did play a part in his limited appearances but at 34 and over a 150 games under his belt for us previously we know that he has plenty of experience and we've seen what he can do before.

We've got nothing to lose by taking a look at him again and perhaps plenty to gain with an experienced head at that back maybe not a bad thing to look to add to our squad?
