Brown Still Confident On Sokolik
Phil Brown has said in an interview with the Echo today that he is meeting with Jakub Sokolik today as he looks to agree a deal with the former Southend loanee to bring him to the club on a permanent basis.
It was revealed by Brown that three League 1 clubs have shown an interest in signing the defender after he left Liverpool but as much as playing higher might appeal to the 20 year old he's confident that, unlike others, he'll take the 'grass isn't greener' approach and decide that Roots Hall is the right place for him on a permanent basis.
Sokolik has been on holiday back in his native Czech Republic but Brown remains positive he'll come to Roots Hall, with us giving him the best chance to prove that he's still capable of moving forwards towards the Premier League level he's just been released from.
One that isn't going to be coming back now though seems to be Gavin Tomlin.
Brown was interested in bringing the 30 year old back to Southend a year after he decided not to stay with us, finding out himself that the grass wasn't greener with Port Vale, but with Crawley showing an interest in him too Brown feels that he is quite close to signing for someone else, and probably the League 1 side.
