Say Goodbye To Eastwood

Say Goodbye To Eastwood

With the news that Freddy Eastwood has been released from the club following his service with us, it has been agreed that he will get the chance to properly say goodbye to the fans as he's been invited to play a role in our pre season friendly against Ipswich.

The game against Ipswich takes place at Roots Hall on Tuesday July 29th and kicks off at 7.45pm, and given that Eastwood initially left us to join up with Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy, it's kind of fitting that this game has been picked for him to get to say his goodbyes and in turn a chance for the fans to show their appreciation for his efforts in our shirt.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Phil Brown said that he felt, and so did others within the club, that Freddy deserved a proper send off owing to his years and exploits with us.

'Freddy is part of this club's history, and he never really had the chance to say goodbye, so we looked at what we could do to give the fans a chance to say thank you. Hopefully Roots Hall will be as full as possible to give Freddy the send of he deserves, because he is truly a Roots Hall legend.'
