Brown Hopeful With One Less So Another

Jakob Sokolik and John Egan both enjoyed successful ends to last season with Southend during the times they spent on loan with us last season, and the two loanee defenders formed a really good partnership.

In an interview with the Echo today Phil Brown has said he's confident of signing one.

Sokolik was released by Liverpool this summer with the 20 year old telling Brown that he wanted to return next season when his loan ended with Brown today saying that he is meeting with his agent to try and get a deal 'over the line' with his signing one that will be great for us next season.

If we can wrap up the details on a deal to bring him in then it's another sign that we're a club moving forward with our missing out on League 1 not putting off too many.

Egan on the other hand isn't so likely to come back to Roots Hall next season though with clubs in the Championship and League 1 showing a strong interest in him now that he's a free agent after being released by Sunderland.

A permanent signing wasn't something that Egan is against exactly it seems but he wants to play higher than League 2, and instantly not in another 12 months or so.
