'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Timlin - Plan 1 Completed, Now For Plan 2

Michael Timlin has said that the squad are delighted to have confirmed their place in the play offs this season, and having done that now, the next trick is to get ourselves to Wembley and win.

Speaking to the Official Site following our hard earned point against Fleetwood Town yesterday, Timlin pointed out that it was important that we kept our momentum going now we have extended our season by a couple of games.

Obviously Southend didn't need the point from the Fleetwood game owing to Oxford's defeat.

'It's very pleasing to confirm our place in the play off and know we'll definitely be in them come the end of the season with one game left to play. Before the game we knew we would have to mess it up drastically to drop out, but we did the job we needed to, making sure we picked up the point.'

The midfielder goes on to say that he feels we approached the game in the right matter and with the right attitude, and ultimately come full time we got a 'well deserved point' for our efforts on the day.

'It was an entertaining game, if we'd got one or two of the decisions we thought we deserved, we may have actually been celebrating a win. But the point means we can now look forward to the play offs, we're all looking forward to it, but we will first think about Burton and concentrate on keeping that momentum going.'

With Fleetwood themselves still pushing for the automatic play off spots in the game, Timlin believes that we really can take some good positives from the match in terms of how strong we were, even if we know we can perform better and he was delighted to have been able to give the fan something to cheer about for their journeys home.
