We Deserved The Point Against Fleetwood - Penney

Assistant manager Dave Penney has said he was pleased with the point that we gained in yesterday's one all draw with fellow play off challengers Fleetwood Town.

They did open the scoring on the day, but another Barry Corr goal got us back onto level terms not long after, and it was another solid defensive showing from us as we are now seven unbeaten.

Speaking to the Official Site Penney explained following the game.

'I thought it was a decent, end to end game, in which we were disappointed with the goal that we conceded. We have responded well and scored from a set piece which is good because we perhaps don't score enough from them. We had to battle away against certain elements that were not going our way, but I felt we certainly deserved the point.'

Penney goes on to say that some of the decisions made by the officials did frustrate them, for instance he doesn't believe it was a free kick that led to their opening goal, but given how things were going against us on the day, the assistant gaffer sees a positive from that because he now believes we have developed some 'underbelly' to scrap away in games that he didn't feel we had at the beginning of the campaign.

He also believes we grew into the game as it progressed and he feels that Barry Corr did have another golden opportunity to have sealed the win for us, and ending the match stronger than we started it he feels is a good indicator of our fitness levels at this stage which should play a part in our play off campaign now.

One game left, the play off spot is secured, and we now need a final big push from the team as I guess it will be Burton first up, but all of the teams in play off spots have been good this season, so we'll have to be better.
