The Preview: Rochdale v Southend
Southend embark on a pivotal few days, starting on Good Friday with the visit to Spotland to face fellow promotion chasing rivals Rochdale.
Rochdale can boost a near on full strength squad to select from now that Scott Hogan returned from injury without a setback last Saturday as Rochdale suffered defeat.
After our defeat last weekend, which leaves us clinging on to our play off place again, even though Phil Brown doesn't really have too many injury problems he could make chances. Paul Smith could miss out on his place on the bench again so Luke Chambers could be Daniel Bentley's understudy. Barry Corr and Jacob Murphy, still to make a start since his loan signing from Norwich, could both start.
We both suffered defeat last weekend but our defeat could prove more costly.
Rochdale needs seven points from four games to secure a top three place, and promotion into League 1, we're only one point ahead of eighth place York City who are threatening our place in the play offs but they're not alone.
Matching, at least, our rivals for our play off place is a must, winning keeps it in our own hands and hopefully we can do what Mansfield did last weekend and bet Rochdale.
