Leonard Targets A Good Week Of Training

Ryan Leonard has called on the Southend United squad to have a great week in training so we can take all three points against Rochdale and offset what was a setback when we lost to Wimbledon.

Our six game unbeaten run came to an end when we did everything right other than score last weekend and whilst it wasn't costly in itself, given we remain in the play off positions, we've lost the opportunity for a bit of breathing space for another hiccup with some tough games coming up.

Speaking to the Official Site Leonard admitted the players now needed a good week of training, so we can get it right at the next time of asking.

'We've got to put Saturday behind us and really kick on this week in training ahead of two tough games at the weekend. It's an important weekend because after it there'll be just two games left of the current season. We've got a tough run in, three of the four teams left are above us, but we never make things easy so it makes for an interesting few games.'

Never making things easy on ourselves is probably a slight understatement and we just have to hope it hasn't cost us down the line, but Leonard knows that the teams we face have aims and fights of their own so it's unlikely they will sit back when we face them, which in turn could open up space and opportunities for us to exploit if we are on the ball and on our game - then it's about putting it in the net which is what we failed to do against Wimbledon despite dominating chances.

'Saturday was frustrating but we've got to keep the confidence and belief. We're at the right end of the table, fighting for a play off place and a trip to Wembley so we're all looking forward to these last four games.

Two wins would have to be enough....wouldn't it?
