'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Eastwood - Southend Are Back On The Up

Freddy Eastwood has said he feels that Southend are definitely back on the up following on from the victory over Torquay.

Having already spoken to the Official Site to give his immediate after match thoughts given his winning goal in the game last weekend, Eastwood wanted a second bite of the interview cherry but this time to talk about how he felt the club were back on the up now and could really kick on following our winless run of 12 odd games.

'We've got the players coming back now and everyone seems to be fit at just the right time. These are good times for Southend following these two wins and we've now got to kick on from here. We're building from a very solid defence. They've been brilliant in recent weeks. Before that silly errors were costing us but now we don't look like conceding any goals.'

Eastwood goes on to say that throughout the team we do really now look solid again and confidence is obviously high because we are clicking in all areas of the pitch again in a way that wasn't happening a few weeks back so he's hopeful we can really kick on again now and in some ways, make up for a bit of lost time.

On a personal level he says he feels fit and healthy again now and raring to go, and the goal would've done a lot for the 30 year old because it shifted him into fifth place in our all time goal scoring charts, so he just hopes he can build on that now himself and keep being involved.

'It's a good time to be fit and healthy because there's some big important games coming up. They're the sort of games we all want to be involved in and hopefully I can play my part.'
