'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Brown Disappointed With Composure

Manager Phil Brown has bemoaned our lack of composure in the final third of the pitch following tonight's game against Newport County.

The game finished goal less despite Newport missing a penalty, and Brown was left to muse what might have been when talking about the game to the Official Site following the full time whistle.

'We just lacked that bit of composure when we got into good areas, and it has been the case for a few games now where it has let us down.'

Brown goes on to say going 442 and bringing in Lee Barnard alongside Barry Corr, he thought we'd have enough composure in front of goal, especially with the goal scoring form of Kevan Hurst, but ultimately we did everything in the build up perfectly, but too many players snatched at their chances when they came along in the gaffers' mind and that was his disappointment.

'We need to get some of the other midfielders showing that composure, and helping to add goals. Lee was a bit isolated in the second half after we had to take Barry off with double vision, and he managed an hour which we knew would be about it.'

The introduction of Eastwood then did please Brown because he very bright and could've won us the game, but unfortunately it wasn't to be.

Overall Brown admits that with how the game played out, the mistakes we made, plus the penalty, the fact we could've lost the match, means he has to be pleased with the point ultimately, especially given the weather conditions on the night and the pitch given the rainfall of late.

Of course another positive is that it looks like John White has come through the game unscathed so with Luke Prosser said to be back in training - albeit in a protective mask - on Monday, the team is improved again.

Time to start turning draws into wins. This one could've been nothing though.

Agree too many of late, have to wonder if the Cup exploits and emotions have taken a bit of a toll. Still in the mix though, it's where we need to stay.
