The Preview: Southend v Chesterfield
Southend are inching ever closer to that big FA Cup game but before that focus has to remain on the League 2 campaign for one more game. Promotion rivals Chesterfield are the next opponents when they come to Roots Hall on Saturday.
White is still out for Southend, last time Brown utilised Leonard at right-back but he'll not be doing it again as he's brought in cover and O'Neill should come in for an immediate debut after joining on loan. Brown's got a virtual clean bill of health apart from that with plenty of quality sitting on the substitutes bench waiting to come in.
If we think we've got it good this is nothing compared to Chesterfield, they'll have Hird and Evatt back after they missed the last game but with so many options available to Cook he's said that some first team players won't even make the bench.
Draws have become something of a common theme for Southend recently so you wouldn't bet against another at Roots Hall on Saturday but it would be nice to go into the Hull City FA Cup game with a win that might take us into the top three again.
