Southend Lose Services Of Kiernan

Wigan, as is their prerogative, have decided to recall Kiernan from his loan with Southend a couple of weeks earlier than his spell with us was due to end. We'd have hoped that we'd get at least the last couple of weeks we were due to but he revealed on his Twitter account on Saturday that he'd been called back to Wigan.

He left, which hasn't yet been officially confirmed by anyone at the club, with plenty of praise for Southend and hopes we can secure promotion to League 1. That would've been a lot easier if Kiernan had stayed around as we've only lost three of the 15 games he's featured for us.

With Rosler working with the defender at Brentford previously the chances of the loan being extended always looked limited when he took over as Wigan manager but it's a bitter pill to swallow that it's looking like we've lost him before that the time we we're meant to as it leaves us very short of options defensively at the moment.
