Double Delight?

Such has been the improvement for us over the past month or so the club finds personalities in the running for a double award for November.

Phil Brown is in the running for the manager of the month award in league two, with Luke Prosser a contender to be the player of the month.

Had it not been for a controversial last minute penalty Southend would have won again last weekend, making in five successive wins! As it is we still won four from five games played and that mammoth haul of 13 points from a possible 15 we could have secured was enough to take us into the automatic promotion places.

To win this award Brown will have to beat off competition from James Beattie (Accrington Stanley), Gary Rowett (Burton) and John Ward (Bristol Rovers).

In a defence that conceded just three goal in November Prosser was a key component of this with his dominant displays key to this defensive strength, he also popped up with an injury-time winner against York too!

Ollie Banks (Chesterfield), Zavon Hines (Dagenham) and Steven Schumacher (Fleetwood) are his competition for the player award....

I would be really surprised if Brown didn't scoop the manager award you know, but think Prosser might find winning his player category a little tougher? This being said I'm not sure if I'd want Brown to win this as how often does the winning of this award then see a downturn in form!
