Time For Change
See what I did there? No, well you will if you read on as the title says time for change and it is about time... I'll get my coat!
Anyway, lets move on...
Phil Brown has voiced his opinion on how much time is wasted during a game and thinks it is high time (no pun intended) that something was done to change the amount of time that is lost when the ball is out of play, or play is being slowed down robs team (and the fans) the chance of seeing a truly even football match.
Brown has suggested that a half should see the ball in play for at least 35-minutes for it to constitute being a half with former England man Michael Owen going as far as saying the game needs to act on a "stop watch" basis, like some other spots with the clock stopping when the ball is out of play.
I agree that something more needs to be done to deter time wasting but in many ways are things that different to the way they have always been?
We definitely can't go down the route where we keep stopping and starting the clock but more attention needs to be paid to those slowing things down, as the way of preventing time wasting quite clearly isn't working...
