'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gentle Persuasion

Ryan Cresswell has informed Phil Brown that he wants to leave Southend to return north, however Brown's not given up hope of keeping the defender.

Brown, as he told BBC Essex, is hoping that "gentle persuasion" can see the 25-year-old stay south. He said: 'I'm hoping it's not the end of his Southend career.

'I've got to sit down with him and his advisors and try and convince him to give us another year.'

Despite being unsettled last season Cresswell had a fine first season with Southend and was deservingly named in the League Two Team of the Year, and Brown feels if he can convince him to stay and get settled he could get another "25% to 50%" from him!
