Forward Interested In Boyhood Team

Forward Interested In Boyhood Team

Ricky Holmes has already been linked with League One Leyton Orient, with them admitting an interest in him, however further Football League interest could be there for the Barnet striker.

25-year-old Holmes seems destined to leave Barnet following the clubs relegation from League Two and, as he told The Echo, staying in the Football League is his priority with him already talking to clubs.

Southend are the striker's boyhood side, and whilst no offer has been made he'd welcome one if it came along. He said: 'Southend haven't approached me and, first of all, they have to be interested in me for anything to actually happen.

'However, if they did want me then it's certainly something I would consider.

'I grew up supporting the team and the club's on my door-step but at the same time any deal would have to be right for me because I'm 25 now and it's an important time of my career.'

Having a player that wants to play for you is always a good starting point, however it's Phil Brown that Holmes needs to impress and he might not be as interested as Holmes might want him to be!
