In For A Penney

In For A Penney

Phil Brown is closing in on appointing someone new to his backroom staff, in a chief scout/head of recruitment role.

This person has a wealth of experience and Brown hopes to have them installed ASAP so they can they start identifying players to bring to Roots Hall.

Brown, as he told The Echo, said: 'A new chief scout/head of recruitment should be starting in the next couple of weeks and he will hit the ground running.

'He has 15 years experience in the game and he'll be able to earmark certain targets.

'It will all move quickly from there I would imagine. There's probably a lot of nervous players out there at the moment waiting to see what will happen to them next season.'

The person in question, again according to what The Echo "understands", is going to be Dave Penney.

48-year-old Penny seems to fit the bill and has experience managing Doncaster, very successfully, as well as Darlington, Oldham and Bristol Rovers.
