Shrimpers Blow Two-Goal Lead

Shrimpers Blow Two-Goal Lead

Bradford 2-2 Southend
29th March 2013

Coral Windows Stadium

Southend blew a great chance to kick start their play off push under new manager Phil Brown with them held to a draw at Bradford on Good Friday.

In a dream start Southend were ahead when Gavin Tomlin (10) followed up to tap home a rebound, from an effort that came back off the post from Bilel Mohsni, and just a minute later the lead was doubled through Britt Assombalonga (11).

Bradford were almost back in the game soon after the second goal but having seen Kyel Reid's freekick come back off the bar James Hanson's follow up was then cleared off the line.

Zavon Hines (53) got Bradford back into the game early in the second half when he made no mistake and the comeback was complete by the home side when James Hanson (83) headed home at the far post late on to earn The Bantams a 2-2 draw.
