Southend Beaten By Promotion Rivals

Southend 1-2 Cheltenham
12th February 2013
19:45
Roots Hall

Southend slipped to a Roots Hall defeat against promotion rivals Cheltenham, who moved into the automatic promotion places in League Two as a result of their win on Tuesday night.

A poorly conceded penalty gave Cheltenham the chance of taking an early lead with Marlon Pack (13) making it a thirteenth minute lucky for the visitors as he rolled this home.

One became two just before the break when Southend fan, and one time Shrimpers target Paul Benson (38) added another after a defensive mistake.

Southend struggled to create any clear cut chances throughout the game, however in injury-time Ben Reeves (90+2) did pull one back but they still lost 2-1.
