Sturrock Proves He Was Right!

When Paul Sturrock turned to Ryan Leonard at the weekend his judgment was questioned by a Southend fan.

Sturrock has revealed that he was knocked for his decision to bring on the midfielder, who went on to score the winner for The Shrimpers!

He was pleased for Leonard but would also be interested to hear the view of that fans now: 'When I made the changes and brought Ryan on one of the fans behind me kept on shouting out I didn't know what I was doing so I'd like to go and try and see him now.

'It was good for Ryan to get the goal and I'm obviously pleased by the result.'

The Southend boss admitted his side were "poor in the first half" and is now worried over the fitness of the influential Gavin Tomin, who will be missed should he be troubled by injury, he added: 'We were poor in the first half and I think it showed how influential Gavin Tomlin is.

'He injured his thigh in training on Friday and we're not sure how long he will be out for just yet.

'But we have players waiting and wanting to be involved and hopefully we can keep on getting the results while he's out.'
