Midfielder wants extended Shrimpers stay

Since the arrival of Marc Laird Southend have gone on a seven-match unbeaten run. Coincidence, perhaps so?

Either way the midfielder has, as he told The Echo, expressed a desire to stay with Southend on a permanent basis from January having enjoyed his time at Roots Hall since arriving from Leyton Orient last month.

Having "settled in well" the 26-year-old has said that he would "definitely be interested in staying longer", so if it's right for all involved you would expect this to be the case?
