Roots Hall

Southend kept up their recent charge, as did their strikeforce who continue to find goals regularly as they beat Rochdale at Roots Hall on Saturday afternoon.

The deadlock couldn't be broken in the first half so the sides went into the break level.

Five-minutes after the restart Rochdale were ahead when Terry Gornell (50) scored but within 10-minutes Southend had turned a deficit into a lead. Firstly Britt Assombalonga (57) equalised and two-minutes later Gavin Tomlin (59) put The Shrimpers ahead.

Southend secured a 3-1 win when Marc Laird (77) rounded off the scoring.
