Rotherham 0-3 The Shrimpers

13th October 2012
15:00
New York Stadium

At half time few might have believed that Southend would run out as convincing winners at Rotherham as they did in the end on Saturday afternoon.

When the first half ended the sides were level nil-nil but by the midway point of the second a Britt Assombalonga (51 & 65) double saw Southend two-up.

Southend's on loan Watford man Assombalonga was denied his maiden senior hat-trick when an effort came back off the bar, but this was followed up by Dave Martin (72) to complete a 3-0 win for The Shrimpers.
