Corr ends 17-months of hell aiding Blues victory

Southend 2-1 Exeter

Southend came from behind at Roots Hall to secure a late win over in-form Exeter on Saturday afternoon.

Injury ravaged Southend managed to get through to half time goalless against an Exeter side that hadn't lost since the opening day of the season.

The deadlock was broken early in the second half though when Scott Bennett (51) struck to give the visitors the lead.

Exeter looked on course for another win, with Southend facing successive defeats, until two substitutes changed thing for The Shrimpers.

Six-minutes after coming on, having been sidelined for 17-months with a serious knee injury, Barry Corr (78) headed Southend level against his former side. With a draw now likely another sub Freddy Eastwood (88) struck two-minutes from time to turn defeat into a 2-1 victory for Southend.
