Shrimpers v Exeter

22nd Sept 2012
15:00
Roots Hall

Having suffered defeat in midweek Southend look to return to winning ways at high-flying Exeter, although they're unbeaten since the opening day of the season.

Paul Smith (neck) looks set to sit this one out for Southend having been knocked out in the defeat at Gillingham; his replacement will be youngster David Bentley. Mark Phillips (groin) was also forced off in that game and is expected to miss out as well.

Gavin Tomlin (groin), Neil Harris (knee), Luke Prosser (calf), Ryan Leonard (hamstring) and Barry Corr (groin) will all need fitness tests to determine if they'll be available or not but Freddy Eastwood (calf) can be called upon.

Alan Gow is expected to return to the Exeter squad having returned to full training but a fitness test is needed for Guillem Bauza, with him unexpected to make it.

The visitors have no fresh injuries though but will be without Liam Sercombe (ankle) again, but that injury made him miss midweek anyway.
