Another Southend win

Southend 3-1 Dagenham

8th Sept 2012
15:00
Roots Hall

Southend took advantage of playing against 10-men for the vast majority of the game to see off Dagenham at Roots Hall on Saturday afternoon, thus recording a third win in a week at home.

Luke Wilkinson's (8) professional foul with less than 10-minutes on the clock saw Dagenham's chances of securing anything dented when he was shown a straight red card.

Southend soon took advantage with Britt Assombalonga (18) giving the hosts a lead. The in-form on loan Watford man, Assombalonga (37), extended The Shrimpers' lead before the break but in first half injury time Dwight Gayle (45+2) gave Dagenham hope.

A 3-1 win for Southend was secured with 20-minutes to play when Ryan Cresswell (70) scored yet another for his new club.
